Have you realized how much you can help in your community? You don't need to be pocket rich, you just need to be heart rich.
So, I have decided that during 2011 I will volunteer a total of 365 hours and take my kids with me. We need to teach our youngster the importance of helping out and let them feel amazingly satisfied when they do good.
Our first 3 hours was at the County Animal Shelter. We did a bit of everything. From playing with dogs and cats to scooping poop and washing dishes. It was so much fun!
There was a dog called Isabella (like my daughter) who broke her collar open and we had to chase her around the building. Then when I finally had her in the cage, I tried to put a stronger collar on her but since she is big and strong she tried to escape again. And what do I do? I go inside the cage just to realize I had locked myself in with her. But that's not it. I start calling my daughter by her name hoping she will open up from outside and took a while before she actually answered. Her reason: " I thought you were just yelling at the dog!"
***362 hours to go***
